I’m brand new to the securities industry and I’m planning to take the Series 63. So far I haven’t done much formal studying, and I have no work experience in finance. In total I’ll have 10 days to prepare for the exam, and I will have all day to study. I plan to use purely Achievable. I have a few questions for all of you.
Has anyone here cleared the Series 63 on a similarly tight timeline, and is this timeline appropriate to secure a pass?
What study tips resources would you recommend for a complete beginner?
Any shortcuts for memorizing key rules and terminology?
I plan to study everyday 6-8 hours. Will this be enough?
How many practice exams should I ideally take before the exam?
Any guidance, success stories, or pit‑falls to watch out for would be hugely appreciated.
Welcome to the securities industry and congrats on starting your Series 63 journey! Here are answers to your questions to help you plan effectively:
Yes, it is possible to pass the Series 63 in 10 days. Many students have done so with a similar timeframe, especially when dedicating full days to studying. It will require focus and consistency, but it’s definitely achievable.
The material can feel complex, especially if you don’t have a finance background. The key is to take your time to understand the concepts. Don’t rush, and go through each chapter carefully. Take notes and review key points regularly to build a strong foundation.
There aren’t many “shortcuts” for this exam since the Series 63 focuses on technical legal rules and ethics. However, we do provide a Series 63 “State laws and regulations” dump sheet in the Achievable course - this is a summary sheet that helps with quick memorization of key facts and concepts.
If you are putting in 6-8 focused hours per day, that should be sufficient to cover all the material and practice thoroughly. The key is to stay consistent and focused throughout the 10 days.
Your goal should be to reach consistent mid-80s scores on practice exams. Take as many practice exams as needed to reach that level. We recommend at least 5 full practice exams scoring in the mid-80s before attempting the real exam. Our exams closely mirror the real exam, but it’s important to account for potential test-day stress or the possibility of receiving a more challenging set of question.
Many beginners have succeeded using Achievable with similar timelines. Here are some success stories so you can see how others have tackled the Series 63 and passed on their first attempt: Success Story #1Success Story #2Success Story #3
