Due to situations outside of my control I had to reschedule my Series 66 from November 26th to December 5th. I am beyond nervous for this exam, I failed the Series 7 twice and I passed my 3rd attempt. I have to use STC per my firm, however I purchased Achievable and have been trying to supplement. I currently have a readiness score of 84%, I took a practice exam before reading through all the material just to see how I would fair, I got 77%. The questions between Achievable and STC are worded very differently, but I like how Achievable helps me grasp the concept more concretely than STC. I am still so INCREDIABLY nervous. I will take the STC final Greenlight exam on Tuesday, and I will try to fit in at least 3 more Achievable exams before December 5th, but I still have to read through the rest of the Achievable chapters, I am about half way through chapter 3 (there are 5 total chapters). Any encouragement, people who pass the Series 66 their first time, any advice. I just so desperately want to pass this test and MOVE ON to the next phase of my career.
Hi @BritneyR, it sounds like youāre on the right path!
My best advice at this point is just to make sure that youāre setting aside time to carefully review each practice exam after youāve taken it. The primary purpose of the practice exams is to identify weaker areas for you to master, and ensure you get those topics right on your next take.
It might also be a good idea to review our dump sheets for the Series 66 and double-check you know all the information on them!
Those āDump Sheetsā are phenomenal!
Hey everyone, just wanted to share an update. My scores arenāt where I want them to be yet, but Iām pushing through. Iāve completed the book and all 11 practice exams with STC, which were required by my firm, and now Iām working my way through Achievable (my choice I LOVE the way Achievable is set up and explains things). My readiness score is currently at 80%, and I took a final exam today, scoring 67%. Yesterday I made a 68%. Iām currently reading Chapter 5 more thoroughly, and Iām really hoping for a pass on Thursday. I only have today and tomorrow and that is it. I HAVE TO PASS! Iām beyond ready to be done with these tests and finally start my career! Positive thoughts and prayers are totally welcome, because I need them!
This not the score that I wanted but I know that everything happens for a reason. @Justin could you please reset my series 66 program so I can start over. I have to wait 30 days and take this test again.
You are so close @BritneyR! I have reset your account progress so you can start from the beginning. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to help you as you continue to study. Thank you, - Brenden
Hi @BritneyR, missing by one question is so frustrating, but you are so close and should definitely be able to pass on your next take!
As for the next steps, resetting and starting over seems like a good idea. You probably donāt need to reread all the chapters, but itās a good idea to take the quizzes again and review any weaker areas. It looks like you skimmed through a good amount of the chapters originally, so those might be worth an extra-focused read this time around.
As Brenden mentioned, if there is anything we can clarify or anything we can do to support you, please reach out anytime!
Thank you both! Iām so beyond thankful for Achievable. Iāll get it in 30 days! I can do this! I will do this.
WHY is this curse happening to everyone?
Youād think that āThe Rule of 72ā may have something to do with it? Because everyone who works so hard gets 72s. Itās like a curse.
Going to be a bit contrarian, but itās because you get too used to how Achievable words things.
This isnāt unique to Achievable. Kaplan and the others probably run into the same issues, too, but FINRA/NASAA is clever and seem to always be 2 steps ahead of the study prep folks and the wording of their particular quiz/test questions. The way FINRA words questions is frustrating. To make this more clear, imagine if Achievable was preparing you for an anatomy quiz and kept referring to the head as the āheadā (because itās an obvious thing, no need to be colorful describing what the head is). FINRA decides to word a question describing the head as āthe bodily area where the skull is locatedā, and itās up to you to figure out that theyāre referring to the head. You have to piece together way too much on the fly.
I donāt think Achievableās practice exams for any of their products are easy, but I think the right answer is far too obvious. FINRA doesnāt make the answer choices too obvious except for a few questions.
