SIE Studying efficiency advice

Hi, I am currently studying to take the SIE but have a full-time job and not much free time each day. I’ve traditionally used my approach of writing down key terms and notes in a paper notebook to help me remember materials, but as most of the terms and ideas on the SIE study prep are foreign to me I end up taking very long for each section and have not made any substantial progress. I want to finish as soon as possible, my current pace is frustratingly slow, should I ditch the pen and paper and try just using the electronic resources?

Hi @Kelly_Jaskolski, I’d recommend switching to the electronic resources. Writing everything out by hand takes a lot of time, especially for a big exam like the SIE. We built Achievable to be the only resource you need, and it’s designed to handle everything for you. You’ll get quick quizzes after every page, helpful explainer videos, and personalized feedback that adapts to your progress. It keeps studying interactive, efficient, and helps you actually retain what you learn with no need to write anything down.

If you still enjoy writing, you can jot a few quick notes on tricky topics. Otherwise, stick with Achievable and follow your study plan. You’ll move through the material much faster and feel confident on test day. The most important thing is to take the quizzes to test your knowledge and see how well you’re retaining the information.

I used both, passed the sie last week. I studied each chapter at a time. First, I would go through writing notes then I would prep and review for each chapter test. I DID NOT move on until I got a 90% on the test. Then I would take a bunch of practice tests and review my worst chapters.
