Series 66 fail first try

Hello, I took the series 66 exam today and failed with a score of 64/73. my scores were 6/8 for EF& BI. 13/17 for investment vehicle characteristics, 19/30 for client recommendations and strategies, and 26/45 for laws, regulations, and guide lines. Im pretty bummed because I was confident I was going to pass. I was thinking of rereading everything related to the last two sections and taking the chapter quizzes along final practice exams until I hate to retake it. please let me know if you have any tips on how I can improve my score for next time.

Hi @Naomi_Wilderman. Sorry to hear you failed, especially so close! I have reviewed your account and have some feedback to help you pass this next time around.

You took around ~8 full-length practice exams, which is good. You often used more time than allotted, though, and your scores varied. My first suggestion would be to ensure you complete the exams within time. It is okay to go over it initially as you get used to it, but you want to treat it like the real test. That means going through each question slowly, ensuring you understand what they are asking, while also ensuring that you are completing the exam on time. You want to figure out the pace that allows you to finish on time but still leave room for being thorough. After you take your exams, you should review for ~1-2 hours. Reviewing is crucial to improving your scores and allows you to narrow down what areas you are lacking in. Once you identify the areas you are lacking, it would be wise to revisit those textbook sections. Continue this process until you see that you are scoring in the upper 80s and 90s.

I also suggest looking at your exam summary on the “Practice exam” page to immediately see what areas of the textbook you should focus on this next go-around. Reviewing your most recent exams would also be a good strategy to start with! The score report on the Series 66 is helpful, but it’s better to look at your practice exams and see what concepts you didn’t grasp and what areas of the textbook are best for focused review.

Please let us know if you need anything else while you continue to study. Thank you,
-Brenden
