I don’t have an education background in finance, I have an engineering degree. For anyone wondering what sort of studying/metrics I had going into these exams:
I started studying for the SIE using achievable on June 29th and passed first try not even 2 weeks later in early July. I did some studying before I found achievable, but the bulk of it was just with achievable. I read the whole book, I took every chapter practice exam, most of the checkpoint exams, Final Exam A, B, and 4 randomized full exams. I averaged 83.83% on the 6 final exams, and my exam readiness score was 99%.
I started studying for the Series 7 using achievable on August 20th, and passed first try about 3 weeks later in early September. I read the whole book, took all the chapter practice exams again, Final Exams A and B, and 7 randomized full exams, averaging 93.22% with exam readiness at 100%. I actually managed to get a 99% on one practice exam.
For both actual exams, there was a lot that felt different than the practice exams, but I do think the practice exams prepare you well if you keep taking them.
In a few days I’ll be taking the Series 66. I’ve been studying with the course since September 20th. So far I’ve read the whole book, taken all the chapter exams, Final Exams A and B, and 3 randomized full exams. Averaging 91.4% so far, and already at 100% exam readiness.
For me, grinding away at the reading and exams heavily in the week or two leading up to the exams has worked well. I would definitely recommend planning on at least 2 or 3 days in the week before your exam where you can really put some hours in and just keep taking practice exams and then reviewing the answers.
