I’m just curious what the 1st attempt pass rate is for the Series 66.
I’ve heard lower than the Series 7. Is that true?
Hi, @Kristina_Johnston.
Our courses are extremely effective: 95%+ of our customers pass their exams on their first attempt!
We do have a complete guide on FINRA Series exams information, including pass rate information:
I have summarized some key points below that relate to your specific questions:
-
In terms of FINRA pass rates, FINRA doesn’t publish pass rate data for every exam, so we’ve done our best to research and consolidate all the data we could find. The exact pass rates might differ slightly from what I’ve listed here, but you can feel confident that they’ll be close.
-
The Series 66 exam pass rate is not published, but it is estimated to be 65%-70%.
-
The Series 7 exam pass rate is 71%.
Please let me know if you have any more questions. Thank you, - Brenden
Interestingly, you guys have the Series 66 listed as Medium and the Series 7 as Medium-Hard.
Care to expound?
Hi @Kristina_Johnston, the Series 66 license cannot be granted without passing both the SIE and Series 7 exams. Most people take the Series 66 exam with a good general understanding of how the exams work and general concepts. It also has fewer questions, with a similar estimated passing rate. Many people taking the Series 7 are still relatively new to the space and often struggle initially with the amount of knowledge they must consume and understand.
Thank you, - Brenden
Not true btw @Brenden . You’re technically able to take the SIE and Series 66 un-sponsored and pay for it out-of-pocket…
Hi @Kristina_Johnston. I did not mention being sponsored, but I can explain a bit more if needed. You can take the SIE without being sponsored; that is correct. To take the Series 7, you must pass the SIE and be sponsored by a FINRA member company or a Self-Regulatory Organization. The Series 66 has not prerequisite, but the SIE and Series 7 are corequisites. This means you cannot be granted the Series 66 license without passing the SIE and Series 7 exams.
Thank you, - Brenden
@Brenden Is it this way because FINRA considers the SIE and the Series 66 to be less intensive of a test than the Series 7 top-off?
We don’t know the exact reasons, but I’d suspect it’s because the S66 is a NASAA (state-focused) exam whereas the S7 is a true FINRA (national-focused) exam.
