Havnt booked SIE exam yet , planning to give next week. Just wanted some tips in order to pass i practiced Achiveable material and scored somewhere around 75 to 80 %. Any tips on how to pass what question types to expect and how to prepare regioursly.
I took the SIE last month, and revisited the sections on Broker-Dealers since most of the questions focused heavily on them. From my experience—and confirmed by others who used Achievable to study—this topic really stands out on the test. I’d recommend getting comfortable with investment companies, understanding the Primary vs. Secondary markets, and knowing which securities belong to each. You won’t see many math questions, but if you do, it’s likely a Current Yield calculation.
For prep, aim for a readiness score of at least 90% and practice exams consistently in the 83-90% range on achievable. For extra preparedness, a 80% or above score for each subsection of the review questions in the last 7 days would also help. Once you’re there, I suggest taking a practice exam from Series 7 Guru on YouTube. His questions resemble the actual exam more closely than Achievable’s (complex wording), but Achievable’s breakdowns make it easy to use elimination effectively. If you’re scoring above 70% on his practice exams, you’re in a solid spot, as his Kaplan-based questions are a bit tougher than the SIE.
Finally, watch the 60-minute crash course on Series 7 Guru’s YouTube channel the day before or day of the exam to keep everything fresh. This approach left me feeling very prepared and confident I’d passed before even submitting. Good luck—you’ve got this!
