Yesterday I failed the Series 7. I have 5 more weeks till my second try otherwise I get the boot. Achievable, please reset my work? And if possible, could you let me know how I can improve my study habits this second time around to guarantee I pass.
I will say one of my biggest issues during the exam was I was rushing the second half and did not have time to sit and think as much as I should. To think I was 9 questions away from passing.
I’ve reset your account and sent over the PDF version of the textbook.
For your second attempt, I recommend starting with a full practice exam and treating it exactly like the real thing. Take the full time, avoid distractions, and don’t use instant feedback mode. Once you finish, review your exam summary carefully and pay attention to the areas where you struggled most.
From there, spend extra time revisiting those weaker sections. Work back through the textbook chapters and quizzes that cover those concepts until you feel comfortable with the material, then retest yourself on those areas to reinforce what you’ve learned.
As you continue preparing, take full-length practice exams regularly. Aim to consistently score in the mid-to-upper 80s before your real test to give yourself a comfortable margin.
Since you mentioned rushing through the second half of the exam, use your practice tests to work on pacing. Try to find a steady rhythm that allows you to manage your time so you can slow down and think through each question without feeling pressed. After each practice exam, spend as much time reviewing as you did taking it, making sure you understand not just the correct answers, but also why the other options are wrong.
You were very close last time, just nine questions away, which shows you already have a strong foundation. With focused practice, better pacing, and consistent review, I’m confident you’ll close that gap over the next five weeks and pass the exam - You got this!
Thank you! It seems as if I need to know everything from the back of my hand to guarantee a pass next time. So I’m thinking of reading everything again?
You definitely don’t need to know everything to pass. Instead of rereading the textbook, I’d focus on your weakest areas, reinforce those chapters and quizzes. Keep taking full-length practice exams to work on pacing and aim for steady mid-to-upper 80s. With focused review, you’ll be ready to pass next time!
