Hi - I just failed my series 7 using this platform. I honestly didn’t think the exam was difficult and I didn’t think I got many questions wrong. I’m very confused as it’s not like FINRA tells you exactly which questions you got wrong. I’m devastated. Is there anything achievable can do to help me pass my second attempt?
Hi @John_Streich, I’m sorry to hear that! I wish FINRA would give a more detailed report of your exam so you can more easily identify specific areas to focus on. I have taken a look at your account and have some suggestions for this next go-around.
You took many full-length exams and averaged in the upper 70s and low 80s, which is great. I noticed you took the exams in less than half the time, so I suggest slowing down and ensuring you are reading each question. It is possible that you could have been recognizing patterns in questions and answers as you took more and more exams. It is also crucial that you spend between 1-2 hours reviewing each of your full-length exams after you take them so you can identify areas of weakness and ensure you understand the explanations. Then, you can go to those parts of the textbook to relearn those concepts.
Given your current circumstances, I think reviewing your most recent full-length exam would be wise. Go through it slowly, and ensure you read the explanations to understand each question fully. This will also give you areas you need to focus on this next time around. You could also take a new full-length exam and do the same thing. By repeating this process, you will slowly see your scores improve.
I looked at your exams, and the main areas I identified needing more focus are Taxes, Secondary market, Brokerage accounts, and Retirement and education plans.
Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to support you as you continue to study. Thank you,
-Brenden
