I have gotten the scores 82, 87, 86, 82, 83, 86 on my past six full exams. On Final Exam A I got a 75 and on Final Exam B I got a 77. My readiness score is 96%. My exam is scheduled for August 31st, but I was considering moving it up to take it this weekend or next weekend instead? Please let me know your thoughts. I’ve looked at the dump sheets but I don’t have those memorized.
It looks like you’re doing well! Moving up your exam seems like a reasonable option.
I’d also recommend:
- Review your previous exams (this is how you’ll improve!)
- Slow down on the practice exams (you’re spending less than 1/2 the time; aim for 2/3)
- Study your weaker chapters (Investment companies, Alternative pooled investments)
Thank you! I didn’t think about going back to the textbook to study the weaker chapters. I’ll definitely do that! I think I might leave my exam because if I want to move it I have to reschedule by tomorrow at midnight. I feel like there’s no sense in rushing myself when I can just keep taking more practice tests? I’m just a little worried because I’ll only have two weeks to study for the Series 66 after I take this exam.
If you don’t have a reason to move it up, then keep studying!
Hey, sounds like you are pretty prepared, just practice a dump sheet daily and make sure u are a master of options. Keep taking an exam every day and you should be fine to move it up if you are worried about having study time for the 66. As someone who just finished the 7 and is now studying for the 66, you should know that the majority of the textbook is a complete review of everything you’ve already been studying for with the 7 and SIE. The only new things are two chapters that combine for 53% of the exam material.
Economic Factors & Business Information (8% - 8/100 questions)
Rules (Laws) & Regulations (45% - 45/100 questions)
The Laws and Regulations can be a bit heavy to grasp, but they are essentially the only new thing you truly need to study for in prep for the 66, since the 7 material is fresh in your head. Can easily be done in that 2 week window if you devote the proper time to it. If the 7 is a must pass and you aren’t 100% confident in moving the time up, then I would keep it where it’s scheduled and focus on that fully. Because its basically studying for the first half of the 66 at the same time.
When you pass and move onto 66. I would go straight to Laws and Regulations and review the rest after.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
Thank you so much! That was really helpful advice. Are you studying for the 66 using just Achievable? Or Achievable in conjunction with another platform?
Also, what do you suggest I put on my dump sheet? I’m not sure what information is most important as there’s such a wide breadth of it.
Using Achievable for textbook notes/quizzes and tracking progress, but in conjunction with the Kaplan Q-Bank for customizable exams.
As for the dump sheet, its different for everyone. I recommend checking out the Series 7 Guru on YouTube for dump sheet and memory aid tips. Also the guy who runs Capital Advantage Tutoring (@Series7Exam) on Youtube is great if you’re ADHD like me and have a hard time focusing on long boring videos. He’s quick and funny and high energy, gets right to the point.
My dump sheet has my options chart, the SL/BS vs BL/SS graph, the premium vs discount teeter totter graph with NY CY YTM and YTC, some random memory aids like DERP, EPIC, PGDM etc. and about 12-15 formulas. I just wrote down the exact same dump sheet every morning before studying for a few weeks and by test time had it fully memorized.
My main piece of advice would be to master options fully before you go in. know how to find b/e in each scenario, know when its debit or credit, know the difference between a time/calandar/horizontal/diagonal etc. spread. Most scenarios wont be tested but they will get you with random ones you never practiced fully so just know them all. The rest of the test is all knowing your products and suitability. And also don’t cram the day before the exam ever. Just lightly brush over some notecards, practice the dump sheet, and trust that all the info is in your brain. Being comfortable and confident and getting good sleep is the difference between pass and fail. The material is in your head, just trust yourself.

WAAAH.
You’re consecutively rocking in the 80’s??? Why are you wasting time posting here and not at Prometric right now??!!
I’m still in the high 60’s, but my test isn’t for another 3 weeks. I better be getting 80’s on my final 3-4 full tests.
Assuming you’re doing the deed on August 30th, I wish you a ton of luck!
