SIE Retake Help

I missed passing in July by about 3 questions. I scored above an 80 on one of the Achievable practice exams, so I was slightly surprised and very disappointed that I didn’t pass. I’ve been scoring in the 80s now through Achievable too but just took the FINRA practice test and scored a 68.

I’m supposed to retake the test on Friday, but now I’m second guessing if I’m ready. Does anyone have any tips? Honestly really frustrated

Hey, @MollyMoney, I’m sorry you failed the first time. I have some suggestions that will help you! I have looked through your account, and you have some areas you could improve in by taking more exams. Some areas to take more exams on are common stock, US government debt, and options. I suggest going back through these exams and sections of the textbook. Take your time on them to better understand the questions and answers. When you are done, make sure to review them. Reviewing is crucial to understand the concepts better and see where you went wrong/right. I also suggest taking a few full-length practice exams, treating them like the actual exam, and then reviewing them afterward. Overall, I suggest spending your days before the exam improving your understanding of the current areas you are struggling in and focusing on reviewing to get a better grasp of the content. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck with your exam on Friday! Thank you, - Brenden

Thanks, Brenden! I appreciate the help. I’m going to dial in on common stock, US govt debt, and options. Is it normal to feel like the FINRA exam was significantly harder than the Achievable practice exams?

Our practice exam scores are very close to the actual ones, but there is a significant element of randomness since you’re only asked ~75 questions from a pool of thousands.

My advice is the same as Brenden’s - take practice exams and carefully review them, and once you’re consistently passing, then you’ll be ready for the actual exam!
