If I’m able to study all day, what’s a realistic amount of chapters I should get through a day without feeling like I’m rushing through the material? Right now I’m doing about 3 a day (2 if the chapters are long) because I get super ocd when reading the material and I feel like I’m unnecessarily wasting a lot of time.
Also, any tips on how to stop being so ocd when reading the material? I find myself rereading almost everything and spending hours on a single chapter.
Thank you.
Hi @Darrin_Hodkiewicz. It ultimately is up to you and what you feel you can do each day without being overwhelmed. The dashboard has a built-in study plan that can be helpful! You put the date you are taking your exam, and then it will create a plan for you. It isn’t a bad thing to reread chapters, but as you stated, you don’t want to overdo it.
I recommend reading through the textbook, rereading some things here and there when you don’t quite understand, and then taking the review quizzes after each page. After you do the review quiz, ensure you have reviewed all the explanations. Then, if you feel you aren’t grasping certain concepts immediately, you can reread those specific areas in that textbook section. That way, you will not spend too much time and you only reread what will help you continue to learn.
If you are still spending too much time reading a specific chapter, you can set a time limit for how much to reread. When that limit is met, move on or take a break. If something still isn’t clear, you can revisit that part rather than reread everything. The goal of this would be to prevent the cycle of getting stuck on the same material for too long.
It’s great that you’re taking time to really engage with the material—try to find a balance where you’re making steady progress without overloading yourself.
Please let me know if you have any other questions as you continue to study. Thank you,
-Brenden
I will echo what Brenden has stated. I set a test date for about 3-4 weeks from starting the program and followed the study guide that was based on that. I would usually study 3-4 hours a day, taking breaks when I got distracted and knew the material wasn’t sinking in. Occasionally I would watch some YouTube videos on certain topics that were difficult to digest and I found hearing it explained in a voice that wasn’t my own was helpful.
According to the dashboard I put in about 52 hours of study.
