Fidelity interview!

I’m super excited to have landed an interview for financial service representative at fidelity next week. It’s 9-12 months training and getting your top off exams and then in the branch after that. Any tips for fidelity and what I can expect with this role? The recruiter seemed very pleased that I passed my SIE already.

Congrats @Sylvester_Bailey, that’s fantastic!

I don’t have any tips specific to Fidelity, but in general, you should research the company and practice a few mock interviews with your friends. You don’t want everything to be scripted, but it can help to think through typical questions like:

  • What made you apply for this role?
  • Why did you leave your last role?
  • What are your 5-year or 10-year career goals?
  • What are your strengths and weaknesses?
  • Tell me about a difficult interaction with a client.
  • Tell me about a time when you managed competing priorities.

We have a blog post with some interesting community-sourced tips on finance interviews!

Hey I got the job but not financial service representative I instead went straight into the branch full time as financial representative and got my 7 and 66. It’s a great job and I’ve learned a ton. I can leave my work at work and have pretty good work/ life balance. But it is stressful sometimes when we are understaffed like right now. I think it’s great you should go for it if you’re able to.

I need to pass my sie exam to get considered. Have applied multiple times and haven’t even got considered for an interview unfortunately.

How much time did they allow you to have to get to the 7 series exam and is the starting pay well? Also are you in Texas for that Role?

I’m also interested in the starting the pay. I plan on taking my SIE and Series 7 within the next 2 months then I’ll be applying for some positions myself

Did you get hired by fidelity as well?

No, I passed my SIE and have been studying for my series 7 but need a firm to sponsor. I’ve applied to a dozen positions since passing it but haven’t heard back yet

Try going to chase. I’ve been aggressive applying fidelity but haven’t heard back because the number of fsr positions is so small in my area.

Yeah 2 Chase locations just opened near me. I went to them, Wells Fargo, PNC, and a local credit union so far. Also applied to GS, Fidelity, and Schwab. I got offered a teller position for $17/hr but my current job pays $23.75. I picked up a 2nd job in the meantime. Gonna save some money until the end of the year so I have some cash to take a pay cut if I need to by January just to get in the door. Good luck to you!

If you see this may I ask what else you had on your resume? Anything that may have helped you stand out a bit?

The compensation is discussed with the recruiter over the phone though not the hiring manager during the in person interview. It is also not listed on the webpage listing. I was shocked when the first interview already asked me for desirable compensation!

The starting pay in California is $60k per year for FSR. Great company and great job and better than being in a bank in my opinion!

What’s the position after fsr?

Financial service representative working from home turns into financial representative full time in the branch once you “graduate” the program
