Failed Series 65 twice

SIE was straightforward, Series 7 was straightforward, Series 63 was straightforward as well but the Series 65 not so much. I have felt the most prepared for the 65 more than I had for all of the other three but for some reason this exam seems to be the hardest. Made nothing less than 88 on the last dozen or so and still failed both times. I’m not sure what to do or where to start over but I know I need to go back to the drawing board. If anyone has any suggestions id appreciate but I’m truly at a loss right now. I’m sure I’m not the only person who has had this happen or felt this way too.

Hi, I’m sorry to hear that, but I’ve reviewed your account and have a few thoughts.

First, I applaud the effort you’ve put into studying so far! You’ve taken an enormous amount of exams and it looks like you’ve generally been reviewing them as well, which is important. Our question bank is huge, but since you’ve taken so many exams, you’re probably unintentionally memorizing some of the question stems and getting used to our writing style. One way to overcome this is to “think beyond the question.” These questions are written by human writers aiming to test specific learning objectives. If you can figure out what they’re trying to test, it gives a hint to the correct choice. It can also be helpful to ask “what if” questions after you’ve answered the question. What if the investor was younger or older? What if they had a family? What if they were more risk-tolerance or risk-averse? What if they had a heavy allocation in stock, bonds, etc? Asking these types of questions to yourself may help you think about the information in a different way and identify areas you knew partly, but not well enough to apply to a different situation.

Another thing that stood out is that it seems you’ve primarily been using the exams and not putting much focus on the textbook. It looks like there are many chapters where you’ve only spent a minute or two, particularly the later ones. It might help to reread the textbook from start to finish to ensure you’ve thoroughly mastered the concepts.

We’re hear to help! Please feel free to reach out directly and we can chat in more detail.
