Entry-Level Opportunities After Passing the SIE

'm a sophomore at a smaller school, looking to work in Wealth Management or Investment Banking. I wasn’t successful in securing an internship for this summer, but I’ve expanded my network and should have my foot in the door at a few places by the summer after my junior year. I hope to complete the SIE within the next couple of weeks—if not, definitely by the end of the summer.

I was wondering what entry-level jobs, assuming I pass the SIE, I could pursue this summer and during my junior year to make myself more competitive for future internship opportunities.

Hi, nice work getting a head start!

Although the SIE is a certification, it’s really the first step to other licensed, full-time roles. Given that, it’s probably unlikely that you’ll find an internship that directly makes use of the SIE.

However, anything related to finance would be great to add to your resume! You basically just want to show to employers that:

  • You are interested in finance
  • You are able to understand financial topics
  • You have good interpersonal and relationship skills

Have you considered adjacent roles on the business side? You might be able to help a local business with their accounting or operations.
