Hey guys, I would appreciate advisement on my career path. I have a bachelor´s degree in finance from Argentina (WES certified) and im trying to break into wealth management as a RIA, Broker dealer or CSA. I´ve already passed my SIE and I was thinking about taking the 66 solo to boost my resume or should I wait to be sponsored?
Good thing is that i´m native spanish speaker and I live in south Florida, so maybe that´s a good advantage over there.
Congrats on passing the SIE! If your goal is to work in wealth management, taking the Series 66 on your own can absolutely help your resume. The 66 doesn’t require sponsorship, and having it done up front makes you more attractive to RIAs and firms that prefer candidates who can step into a client-facing or support role quickly.
That said, some firms are willing to sponsor and train you, so it’s not a requirement to take it before getting hired; it just gives you a competitive edge. Your finance degree, SIE, and Spanish fluency already set you apart. Adding the 66 now can help you stand out even more and may speed up the hiring process.
