Hello! I have been heavily considering making a change into financial advising for a few months now. I am wondering if anyone on here has successfully made this transition? What words of advice do you have? When I read about this career field online, there is a lot of stigma associated with this career field as many companies follow an MLM model and push sales/recruitment heavily. I’m not a salesy person and worry that it wouldn’t be a good fit. I’m passionate about education which is what draws me to this field and the ability to help educate people about their finances to live a more financially free life. I would love people’s thoughts/perspective/feedback. Thanks!!

Great question!
From our bird’s-eye view, I’d say there’s a lot of variation in the types of roles. While some are heavy on sales and have aggressive targets, others are more focused on sowing seeds to build long-term relationships. I’d encourage you to apply to a variety of different firms, large and small, and learn about their company culture!
Would love to hear other thoughts from the community~
