When I multiplied the number of shares to the 1.67 (5:3) my number was 835. Maybe a typo?

Hi Mizanne,
I’ve investigated this question and it looks like the mismatch is due to rounding:
500 * 5 / 3 = 833.3333 = 833
500 * 1.67 = 835
For the SIE exam, it’s fine to use the approximate value and pick the closest choice - they won’t have choices be so close to each other that the rounding makes a difference.
In the real world, high precision is used to calculate the exact values so shareholders keep the same value in their account.
Thanks for pointing this out; I’ll update the question explanation to call attention to it.
