# Fidaxomicin vs Vancomycin as first line drugs for pseudomembranous colitis

For the quiz above, when I read the textbook I find that either vancomycin or fidaxomicin can be used as first line for initial episodes. Yet the correct answer is vancomycin, fidaxomicin being one of the wrong choices. Is there an error in the question or my understanding of the question?

Both my first post and this one seem similar in nature. Is there a tag or a specific discussion board where I should post such questions in the future?

Hi there, either of them can be used for the treatment of Cl.difficile colitis, but for USMLE questions choose vancomycin over fidaxomicin. It is especillay true for more severe cases of colitis. Hope that answered your question.
